Uki, my tour guide
cross posted to my LJ & do
I've been up all night tweaking some old art files to post in my zombie lunchbox...
some of you, who know me in waking life, might recognize this charcter study from my most recent sketchbook... However, I've been playing with the coloration in photoshop, so she's a little different now...

Hey all.

I was just pondering on my annoying artist's block and what gets me going (artistically). For me, it seems I have to travel or find something new in order to be inspired. I just have to go. So far, trips outside of the city work half of the time, but the surefire way to get my brainpan going seems to be long distance travel.

What kinds of things inspire you guys? Or just gets your wheels going. How do you unblock your artist's block? I know several people tell me that "artist's block" is just an excuse, but they're bloody liars.

Hi all! :)

Just a little post to mention a few things.

First! Welcome to all new members that I have been so slow to add. I'm going to just add the yahoo account to my Eudora check. I really am sorry. Please introduce yourselves and show/tell us a little of what you do. :)

Second! I'm just wanting to make sure people are out there. :) Feel free to be a little conversational here (on topicy, please).

Anyways..Yeah! Hope to be completing some silly little things here soon.

Fashionable Auctions!
Playing to one of my strengths, I'm offering two commission auctions: your character drawn in a corset, and your character drawn in a kimono. I thought this would be a fun variation on the usual thing, and I love to do patterned clothing and such. Peek if you like cool threads!

Link to the Auctions.

Finally, some photos of the nightstand/shelf I finished about a month ago. It has a mate that I have yet to finish. The top is the first Knot I ever burned, and the vinework is much more recent. I guess the shelf shows my progression thus far.

In and out...
As per the introduction rules:

My specialty is -- making up critters and drawing things with no bones or kidneys (or so I've been told). Usually in love.

I work in mostly natural media.

I'm here because sharing tips on making money is important in any freelancing community, and...

I've done the sf/f convention art show circuit enough to know a little something about most major shows. I can field questions on that. Also on anything having to do with ties to the SF/F writing community (since I write SF/F short stories professionally).

My website, if you want to wander the art, is Stardancer.Org.

Not enough poetry
Hey kids. Felt like dragging out some old, crazy poetry and sharing it.

Be afraid.

Ritual 10-12-01

A flaunt of feathers
And a show of strength.
You give me
Preconstructed intellect
In words looked up
This morning
At breakfast.

Is it mating season already?

#5 1-16-01

Looking at your face
Makes my still heart hemorrhage
Because I love you

That one was a school assignment. I gave my teacher fits by putting hemorrhage in a haiku

Mom's poem 3-14-02

I catch myself, extending an arm
To keep stationary.
I catch my breath, holding it in
To fight off the dizziness.
Light-headed from worry and hesitation
I realize the wall I grasp for support
Is nothing
And I wonder;
Why am I holding my breath
When I could be holding you?

Mom requested I write a poem for her wedding and that's what came out.
